Growing up on a the farm I was taught that if a neighbour/friend needed something you didnt hesitate and loaned it to them........
Well, a friend of mine asked if he could borrow my Polaris for a day to go riding with a couple of friends. I never hesitated and told him "by all means".
He returned it and I could tell by the look on his face that things did not go well. Not being the most mechanically inclined he told me that the bike was making some weird noise in the back wheels and not driving smoothly........... Here is the bike now;
Tore it apart and now have to replace the rear bearings (which were destroyed) as well as the axle which is bent~! My friend has offered to pay for the repair but it is terrible timing just before the season opener.
The bike is old and I am telling myself that it can happen to anyone including me but it sure makes you wonder........
Oh well I would probably loan it again if asked.....Maybe not to that friend but to others~!

No one gets on my atv unless I know where they are going and they are going to ride it like I do. They know if they wreck it they pay full cost of repairs at the dealer, not a fly by night " mechanic". This has cut requestd from a few to none. When we are hunting or cutting wood no one moves the atv without asking even if the keys are in it. If there is an accident I am responsable for it . It isn't worth it. Why lose a friend for being nice. Atv's can be rented from a few places on a controled course. I am sure those guys borrowing the atv's would not let you borrow their $8000.00 vehicle for to take a run down some gravel roads, so why should you loan them yours . I am just misserable but I havent lost friends over a damaged atv. Get them to leave their girl friend as security.
