went to h&h resterday to buy a sling for my phoenix,walked out with the varizone, base, rings and the sling. they had varizones on for $99.

now i'm in a delema do i put it on and forget hunting today or just stay with the peeps and go.

how long does it take to set it up

I'd just go with the peeps today if I were planning to hunt.
I like to loc-tite the screws on the base and give them overnight to dry before I shoot. Actual sighting in usually doesn't take long, but it's best done when you aren't in a hurry.
