I am sure you have the best of intentions with this question, but I don't think this is the place to be asking about someones character from another site. I visit OHL and know that alot of the members there visit this site too. Just seems like your going behind this fellows back.
My advice would be to trust your gut when dealing with online purchases of this matter, if you feel uncomfortable about the deal don't do it or visa versa.
My 2 cents, but probably only worth half a cent.

but as said, if you have doubts, dont buy.. if you do then paypal offers options incase you get ripped off
if he has alot of posts, im sure he's ok to deal with. The ones with 1-2 posts selling something with no rep on the boards are always iffy, but we all had to start somewhere
see if he maybe has a ebay name and check his feedback there
