Diggers memorial hunt arrangements and Diggers bows ..

Post by R.J. »

I drove up to meet with Diggers daughter Chrysty today .. I have some pictures as well as more details on Diggers bows and moving forward on the memorial hunt arrnagements ..

Will price all fairly to move them quickly ... Some are ready to go hunting with ... others will be more of interest to collectors ... and others still need some parts located to complete them ..

Just finished a 6 + hour round trip drive and I'm heading to bed for a quick nap before nightshift tonight ... Will post pictures and more details tomorrow ..

No problem guys .... I figure Digger would have done the same for me if his was able ...

I had a look at the bows ... Took into consideration the economic downturn we are experiencing in our area , and the fact that the market for used crossbows and compound bows is like a roller coaster in pricing and availability ..

I put pricing based on my best judgement ... If someone sees a price that looks askew , please PM me ...

I tried to keep the prices fair to buyer and seller ... bottom line , I will be accountable , If I do bump into Digger again some day .

I posted pictures at ( see trading post link below ) .

http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/phpBB2 ... 046#226046

Please be paitent with Chrysty when the transaction comes down ... Our homes are approx 3 hours apart , and we with PM's , phone calls back and forth .. There may be some slight delay on replys to inquiries ..

Now ... on to the mermorial hunt progress .

It is not going that well ...

I thought I had a suitable candidate ( a young fella from Alberta Canada ) ... But after calls to Alberta to follow-up , I found out his rehabilitation was not working out so good ... the sponsor / guide and family say it's just not a good time ..

I will PM wabi , to see if he had any input from DJH ... or we can always default to a donation to the families charity of choice ..

PM me if you have any ideas ..

I haven't seen the Vixen ?

I know he had a few awhile ago ..

The last I remember it was the black rail / riser / limb set in a tiger stripe maple stock or other laminate stock with the steady eddy on it ..

Chrysty said she was going back to her dads place to look around for misc parts etc.

I will keep you posted ...

Yup hard to say at this time as Doug did have a few fer sure.. I have a couple I got from Digger a Wolverine and a older Vixen That I passed on a while back.

The Wolverine Goes no where and yup I shoot/did shoot it and took a nice Doe a year back with it, smooth shooting xbow. I also gave a Wolverine to JH45Gun part diggers and in great shape eh!! JH45Gun :D

I'm sure thing will go good with this selling Doug's bows, however think about it, the economy/money is not so good today, people out of jobs and hunting season going down or over in a lot of areas..

Thanks RJ for being the Man you are, and steeping up to the plate..
Best to all,
GaryL .... :D

Here is a quick update ...

Basically , all the Excalibur crossbows have been spoken for , pending final arrangements .

The PSE and Martin Compounds are still available as is the Ten Point Titan .

I am going to get ahold of Chrysty ... If schedule allows , I will drive there again this weekend and get everything together .

Another update ..

I got ahold of Chrysty tonight ... Sounds like she found more parts for the misc crossbows ... I going to drive to her place on Sunday and try to piece everything together ... Then I will contact each forum member that spoke for the crossbows and finalize the deals on Monday , Tuesday of next week .

As for the memorial hunt ... wabi has a line on two potenial Candidates ... should be able to firm that up next week as well .

Special thanks to all that spoke for the crossbows and donated to the memorial hunt .

Update on Diggers bows ( Monday Feb 2nd ) ... The 2 Relayers , the mint walnut Wolverine , the Phoenix have all been purchased .

Chrysty did find some misc hardware etc. , had not located limb sets when I was there yesterday for the Y25 relayer or the old Wolverine ...

I just got a message from her today that said her sister thinks she found them ... If they are the right ones , I will put the bows together later in the week and contact the people that posted interest to finalize the deals .

The Ten Point Titan is still for sale , but I believe it will be gone soon ... I have a couple local enquiries I am following up and one USA member inquired as well ( just need to figure out the exchange rate and shipping ) .

I have had no action on the Compound bows ( The Martin or the PSE ) also Chrysty found her Dad's Martin " Rage " ( an additional picture of all three bows can be seen in Diggers post on this thread ) ( see attached link )( bottom of page # 4 )

http://www.excaliburcrossbow.com/phpBB2 ... e&start=45
For now Chrysty is going to hang on to those bows because someone in her family wants to start with a vert bow ... they will pick one of the three , then she will continue to advertise the remaining two .

Update on the Digger memorial hunt ... Working out some details with wabi ... will keep you all posted as things firm up .

Side note ...

On the way home from Chrysty's house on Sunday , I dropped off three bows to BOO's house ( which from now on I will refer to as TEAOMAEM = The Excalibur and other misc Archery Equipment Museum ! ) ...

My wife and I were graciously invited for an excellent Elk dinner ! ... And after a spending a few hours with Don and his family , I could see right away his passion for " everything outdoors and hunting in general " !

I quickly found out , as many of you that have met Don already know ... he is ( to coin a phrase from Sandman ) " top shelf " ... He , his family ( including his extended canine companions ) are truly a pleasure to visit ...

Don .. Thanks again for your hospitality ... you are welcome at our place anytime !

Too many threads for my brain to keep track of here.

Here's what we have at this point in time -
I just got off the phone with Karen at the PCBA, Inc. (Physically Challenged Bowhunters of America) and they are currently working on a youth only archery hunt for Montanna this year. The outfitter donates the hunt, but the PCBA tries to supply $$$$ for transportation and licensing for the youth selected. The final cost is variable depending on the youth's home location, but a ballpark estimate to finance the hunt is right in the range of what we have in the fund.
I've contacted Sliver to get an exact amount, and will have him send a check to the PCBA if there is no objection.
I will have Karen put a notice of the donation in the newsletter they print, and she will send a copy to Digger's family.
