Interesting Excalibur find at the gun show this morning

Post by Pydpiper »

The vendor, with a bunch of other old stuff on his bench told me this was new stock, just got it in from Excalibur last month! I have never seen nor heard of these, so now they can retire on my office wall, where they belong.

It's not new Mike, it's actually pretty old. The guy was pulling my leg. I just smiled away at him and handed him my $4. I can't even get a hit on these with Google.

I would guess they were from pre-camo days, a cheap way to camo up black or brown limbs.
I think I will use them as a stencil to make some white winter hunting covers.

I have a set on my first bow.

Camo? Yes, but they were also intended to reduce noise. If you bump a limb against something hard, they will deaden the sound a bit.

Thanks for the link Bob, I dug in to the archives pretty deep a while ago, I either missed this or it didn't concern me at the time.

limb covers

Post by xbhntr »

I have them on my exocet I bought in 1995 at Shooters choice. The covers reduce noise and prevent chipping. Ray.

Fleece limb covers

I had a set on my original carved tip black vixen. Not good in wet weather and the velcro was poor at keeping the covers in place. They were good however at picking up Burr's

Feeling a bit of nostalgia looking at that picture. The responses on this thread make it easy to tell who is new to Excalibur and who has been around for a while.
