VixChix, thanks for the welcome. Have been here for awhile, but since I'm a non-hunter, don't have much to contribute, but do enjoy reading the comments and you and Lscha are quite remarkable. Am looking forward to reading some great stories. Have always felt welcome, I might add. :D

You're wrong K. You are a great contributor with your support, views, encouragement and knowledge of the current legislature. Thank you for all of that.

If you get out bowhunting this year will you be shooting or snapping pictures?

:) I would like to add a comment in regards to Vix . I took her out for turkeys this past spring and she shot a nice gobbler . I offered to carry it out for her but she insisted she carry it . Not a deer mind you but anyone can attest to how heavy that bird gets with each step . :)

Laura, thanks for the nice words. I have met a lot of friends who are on several forums and it's always nice to see "familiar" SNs.
IF I do get to go with my nephew, will be for opening day of bow season. He sets up a blind for us and I just observe the woods and take in the whole experience and will be hoping he gets to shoot a deer, as he did last year. We just enjoy each other's company and I know to stay quiet and keep my eyes and ears "tuned in" to what's going on all around us. Had much fun spending the whole day with him, last year, and am really looking forward to it.

You are so right about being treated like you are from another planet, but that treatment was mostly on the job,I have always done a"mans"job,to support 3 kids. But funny,I have always been treated with respect from the guy hunters.Sunday my husband and I went to academy to buy corn,I ask a friend who works there about broadheads cause he has an excalibur,a man listening said,"a woman who hunts?can you cook? I have been waiting for you all my life"lol I said "yea thats what my husband said too."My husband has tought me to hunt,we have been together 11 years, and he has been my mentor, and my strength.I would rather hunt than anything I can think of.This forum has been so much fun/informative,everyone respectful, warm and helpful to each other.I am proud to be a part of it. :D

Laura, nice buck! It's bigger than you are! Did you hit it in the throat? If so, then that's a whopper of a hole . . .what did you use? Nice shot . . .I'll have to watch my mouth around here.

The deer are very large in this area. I don't even hunt here anymore because now I live here. I didn't back in '79. I usually hunt alone and normally aim for the neck so I don't have to track them. Most of my deer have been neck shots. I used my Berretta Silver Snipe O/U with a slug. That was shotgun only back then.

Now I have hunting property where the deer are more like German Shepherds size. O well, they are terrific eating.

Thank you. I had a problem for a few weeks when I had updated my email address and had to get Peter to fix it for me. I go on quite a few boards and don't post much. Like to read the posts and reply IF I can. Good people on here and other boards. Looking forward to reading some great hunting stories, soon. Good luck to you. :D
