another new-B question about broadheads

Post by hunt-n-fool »

I bought a new phoenix, and have mostly shot field tips.

I bought some 125gr Montec's 3 blade, dont really care for them. only shot one of them, and its no where near where the field tips fly with the firebolts.

so, I bought one ( for unloading?) 2219 aluminum easton arrow, put a 75gr vortex mechanical on it, shot it at the 20yards, dead on, moved back to 30, dead on................. looks good.......... but,............

has anyone else had experience with the vortex mechanicals ? I used them extensively with my vertical bows........... wondering if there is any good or bad press about them here ?

thanks

Don't know, but I have a pack of Vortex "Mini Max III" on order to try with my Phoenix.

I've been using Wac'Em Exit broadheads (4 blade fixed replaceable blade type) and so far every deer shot in the "boiler room" had died quickly (3 deer), but I like to keep searching for a mechanical I can trust.

I should add, I was using the 75 mini-max 2 blade, opens to 2.0 inches, has 7/8in cutting surface if it fails to open.

I have also used the 125gr 2 blade, puts awesome holes in deer.....

I am been collecting broadhead data for a couple of years . . .I don't see where anyone here on the forum has reported a kill with them.

I like the 2" cut . . .do they make a three blade?
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

i have the 125 two blade on the easton powerbolt with luminok nocks ready to go for deer, unfortunately the only thing to give me a shot has been pigs and i carry two firebolts with thunderhead 125 for them to keep from losing the easton powerbolt on a big hog should i not recover it. since this is the last weekend before primitive weapon season in louisiana i will use the vortex on whichever gives me the opportunity so hopefully can give some type of report on the vortex broadhead sunday or monday.

I'm going to give them a try. 3 blade, two inch cut. They are cheaper than the Stricknines . . .maybe I'll get a chance to use one soon.
