How about tallow?

Post by longwinters »

Just wondering how much fat/tallow has been on your deer this year? On the doe I took last weekend there was not one bit of tallow :? None, Nada, ziltch. This is out of an area with mostly hay fields and hard woods, but no oaks, beech etc....mostly maple and balsam.

Now this was a good size doe too. Just seemed kind of weird.

The deer I killed in Indiana had quite a bit of fat in her abdominal cavity.

The deer here seem to have less fat than they have the past few years, but they still have a fair amount to trim off.
