First Crossbow Harvest
First off I would like to say how great this forum is such a wealth of information for a relatively new crossbow hunter. Long time reader first time poster.
After 3 years of hunting with my Excalibur Exocet 165 I was finally able to connect with a small 1 1/2 year old spike buck yesterday evening.
This is my first deer with any type of archery equipment.
Details of the hunt:
3 point spike buck
20 yard slightly quartering toward shot
60 yard recovery
Excalibur Exocet 165 Carved Tip Limbs
Easton XX78 Superslam 2114 Superlite 20" 390grains
4 inch duravanes
100 grain G5 Montec
Fletched by myself with the Guideance of Greener
Last but not least Dacron Boo String
Thanks so much to everyone who has helped me out getting into crossbow hunting especially Greener for all his help getting the bow set up and working out all the problems with it.
Boo for making such a great string I'm on my second one now after wearing the first one out. A top notch person and business man thanks Boo
Sorry for the long post
Good Luck out there
Clark

Congrats on your deer.
Post as often as you want, and make 'em as long as you like.
We're not that sort of forum ... no post police here!

Thank you everyone for the kind words and Congratulations!
This one is indeed a special one and it wont soon be forgotten. And yes it does make the 3 years worth the wait.
Especially after the 1st year when I almost launched myself out of the treestand because I had buck fever and forgot to back the limbs away from the tree trunk when I pulled the trigger. I think that small fork horn buck stood there and laughed for a minute while I tried to reload.
And also being 9 yards away from a small 8 pointer while hunting on the ground who heard my safety click off and took off.
So yes it has been a long time coming.
And yes I can definately agree now that the Exocet 165 is enough for hunting that little spike didnt know what hit him at 20 yards.
Now the ice is broken in the crossbow hunting world I'm looking forward to the next one. Unfortunately that may have to be next year as I dont have another Tag. Guess I'm going to have to wait for gun season now.
Thanks again
Happy Hunting this year
