muzzleloader question

Post by swiftfox »

dick195252 I shoot a T/C Z, great gun and the price is reasonable. probably better in the US though I use a 240 grain sabot and triple seven pellets. Sighted in at 100yds. That's so the deer can laugh at me from further away this year.

I did have a CVA Wolf but I did not shoot well with it. If you can try out a few before you make a decision.

for bullets talk to enormous on the form here regarding dead centre bullets they are very accurate.

I threw cheap out the window with mine LOL.. I got the T/C Pro Hunter Encore Endeavor. Love it but you will have over 1100 inveested with a scope atleast.

My first ML was the knight woverine which I loved and it was cheap and very accurate at the time. Then I went to the Knight revolution which I still have and keep in the gun rack:)

The Omega is very good and you can find those with scopes cheap now. Alos, take a look at the Knight KP1. Since they went under you can find those ML'ers cheap now in the 300 dollar range!

CVA Optima Pro is another I see alot of guys with and some swear by them

As Rich said, T/C and Knight are at the top, but since Knight closed up T/C is the king hands down now

I'm also not going to listen to the cheap thing :D This is because I can only recomend ONE muzzleloader, and that is the Savage 10ml! BY FAR THE BEST MUZZLELOADER I HAVE SHOT! It is on the higher end of the other guns that have been recomended. Enjoy your new gun no matter what you go with.

You'll not be sorry if you go with a Thompson Center. :D

That said, the Savage is every bit as good, and has certain advantages no Thompson can match.

Lock-time is one.

Research carefully, and enjoy the process! :D

Our local Wallymart has the T/C Omega in a package deal with everything but powder in the package--for $225.00---that is a good deal--the gun alone runs $296.00---My buddy bought 1 and at 100 yds. with open sites--placed 3 in the 1" ring after 1 sight in shot---they are tack drivers

I believe you Aaron!

I think I am going to buy one. I have been lusting after one for a while. And the Swede now needs a gun for muzzle loader season. I think she should cut her teeth on the Omega. Sadly, that means I have buy a smokepole, or in this case, a smokeless pole for me.

Sounds like a good excuse to me.

Mike, Randy Wakeman offers them blasted, bedded and floated for a very reasonable price, with good turnaround time, if you're interested in the enhancements to an already superb arm:

A very nice package ... I think he knows his stuff.

Strike while the iron's hot, buddy! :D 8)

I have had great luck with my 50 cal Thompson Center Black Diamond.
Now matter what brand you chose you will have to play around with the charge and bullet. I use a Hornaday 300G XTP 44 mag bullet with 100g of Pyrodex.
It will crush a deer!

I must add that the Savage is one heck of a ML'er also! A buddie has 2 of them right up the road it is flat out shoots penny groups if you are steady enough out to 200 yards. I debated getting one, but I didnt like the feel of it. It all depends on what feels good to you. The T/C Pro Hunters just basically mad elove with my shoulder and trigger finger when I held it up :P :P

The savage felt a little weird, but again its one heck of a ML'er. I'd advise spending a little extra so you dont have any regrets or what if's later on. Think of a ML'er is a woman. You want something that will take care of you 20 years from now.. LMAO

goodluck

T/C, Savage, and Knight are the top 3 for me :D
