First big buck

Post by gogo »

My son had never shot a deer. This morning about 10 minutes into the shotgun hunt he called me and said he had shot a small buck. He was in his stand gave a few doe bleats and out came this small buck.He shot at it but wasn't 100 % sure he hit it, thought he did but it didn't react to the shot like it was hit. So I drove out to his hunting spot, we found blood, not alot just little droplets. We blood trailed for a few yards and lost the blood trail. Told my son to go one way I would go the other. A few minutes later my son called me and said he found it. Well his small buck turned out to be a huge 11 pointer. It had a big thick rack and a huge body. His very first buck turned out to be a buck of a lifetime. He is flying high just thrilled to death. Word spread quickly everyone is turning up to see it. Everybody first words are wow thats huge. He will have a tough time bettering that buck.

Congratulations to both father and son!

I remember when my son shot his first buck. I mounted the antlers for him but did not tell him. It turned out to be his favorite Christmas present that year.
Keep smiling!

Good for him...and you. It is really cool that he found the buck so it was his effort from start to finish.
