Cold calling tactics for this weekend (Ontario)?

Post by ninepointer »

I expect to get out to hunt Sunday morning (Nov. 22). I'm thinking of estrus bleats followed by tending grunts, every half-hour. Or should I call at all? Any suggestions are appreciated :D .

A little bit of (quiet) bleating brought two does my way tonight. I was ready to take the larger of the two and they needed to close 10 yards...but then a gentleman who had parked his combine a field over came to collect it and spooked them in the process. Gotta love seeing that nose go straight up in the air and then hear that lovely snort and watch the white flags wave.

I thought the wind had swirled and they caught me until I heard the engine start 10 seconds later.
