New Bow
New Bow
Hi All This is a great forum. I have spent hours here since I found it. My question is which bow to buy. I am going to hunt Deer, Hogs, and Turkey. Not much difference in the price $100 to $250.00 so that really doesn’t matter I just want the best for the money. I am going to Crossbow because I just had open heart surgery and can’t pull the compound back yet. Any information will be appreciated. It will be Excalibur for sure. Thanks JJ

Re: New Bow
Your best bet is to go and try each one out. All excalibur bows shoot great. See which one feels best in your hands. Bring it up to your shoulder and check the weight and the feel. next how much power do you need and how much can you pull back. Good Luck. There is a lot of knowledge on this forum you can tap into.

Re: New Bow
agingcrossbower is right on. Your best bet is to check out the different models. I have the vortex and I am very happy with it. I like the thumbhole stock, you may not. Thats why you should check them out. Which ever you choose , you will not go wrong with excalibur, and you will soon find that one is not enough
Once you shoot your new excalibur, it's too late your HOOKED

I am a hunter and proud of it.

Re: New Bow
Thank you for your advice. The closest bow shop to me is 98 miles. I talked to him the other day and the only bow he carriers is the Vortex and he changes a few things on it and drops the speed down to 316 fps but is very accurate. He said that he would order whatever I wanted, this is why I can’t just go in and try them all out. Thanks again JJ

Jerry41, i knowed where yer town be. I go through it when we go home to Ms. around 80 miles south of me. Only way you can slow one down is dacron string & or heavier arrows. Unless ou change out to a shorter rail. Then you have the Ibex from a Vortex. Maybe we could meet inbetween say Mammouth springs. I could bring my bag target & both the vixen & the phoenix down.

Re: New Bow
The great thing about x-cal crossbows is that if you buy one and find out you really needed a heavier or lighter poundage or you should have got the regular stock rather than the thumbhole you can sell it. These x-bows hold their value well and you can then get another one.
Vortex, Boo String, Zeiss Z-Point --Phoenix, Boo String, Zeiss Z-Point.
