Back from Shooting Crossbow

Post by petev »

Well I just got in from putting all the pieces together in my hunting outfit. I used recommendations from this forum to help guide me. Shooting the Exocet with the varizone scope, put on the STS sytem, shooting arrows from Dan Miller, using Slick Trick's 100 Magnum. Still original bowstring...have not graduated to a boo string. Shooting at the Rinehart 18-1 target.
My desire was to see if I could shoot broadheads with the same performance as a field tip. Just got the broadhead target today. Pleased to say that I think this outfit works very well together. Broadheads are shooting the same as field tips at 20 and 30 yards...which is my range. Very happy with everything. I do have to say that pulling a bolt out of the target takes a little effort to get it started, but I am sure I will be happy with the target as well.
Bottom line is I would recommend any of these products to anyone...they seem to work just fine. My true test will have to wait until October. My thanks to the forum for good advice.

Here's a little tip about removing arrows from targets. Put a coating of lubicant on the shafts before practice, Like Gig a Loo or what floats your Boat, and when shooting broadheads, remove the head from the backside before trying to pull out.

Get one of these from Danny Miller. Just remember to twist bheads counter clockwise 1/4 turn before pulling.

Indeed. THE BEST ARROW PULLER I've ever owned or seen. Very good. :D 8)

Just DO NOT twist a carbon arrow that's FIRMLY stuck ... they can break clean at the entry point. Very bad. :? :(
