Hey Secret:
What's your evidence that a 4" duravane works best? Please share your data-base so that everyone can learn from

Re: More, Trendy Vanes!
Michael Stogre. . .interesting. Thanks for the information.
In my experimenting, I found that the smaller vanes need more twist to get the same spin as a larger vane with less twist . . .the small vane just doesn't have as much wind resistance to generate the same amount of spin(that's with all other factors remaining the same). With less wind resistance or less spin, the arrow retains it's down range speed. It's easier for the fletching to spin a mechanical broadhead than a fixed blade for the same wind resistance theories as above.
In the event of a crosswind . . .doesn't matter where the resistance is coming from . . .the crosswind will hit it and throw the arrow off course. That's why I like the small vanes and the mechanical heads. For accuracy, there isn't a better set up. There are the arguements about dependability . . .I have found the mechanicals I use today to be very dependable. Nothing makes as big of a hole. Nor drops a deer faster.
Noise . . .the more speed you have, the less noise is a factor . . .at least within the "hunting zone" for your bow. However, the more you try to increase the range of your bow, the more noise becomes a factor.
Anyway, it seems like the trade-offs in archery are endless. It's cool to see new technology, or old technology being applied to archery that helps with eliminating the trade-offs.
Turbulators . . .I like it.

Re: More, Trendy Vanes!
All this talk about vanes has got me itchin' to change something. Been shooting Blazers for a while with Slick or Spits BUT just got my order of 2" Fusion and bought a dozen GT shafts last night. Not stripping any of the Blazers (3 doz) just adding some 'competition.' It's a sickness, I tell ya. A downright sickness! Have even given it a name: Bowmessin' Now for some different broadheads to try.
