I hate all of them...even more when its about 300 of them crawling up your pants. My treestand hanging was cut short this morning when I looked down and saw those little things everywhere. I wear knee high rubber boots and not a tick was on them. I must have brushed against some grass that had them on it so they just transferred to my pants. I got back to the truck, stripped down LOL... I think they were all still on my pants and hadnt moved to any skin areas. I still rushed home and took a shower.
so ticks are out in full force now. I hadnt seen hardly any this year but they are hatching now.. on a side note I got 65% of my stands done. I still have 4 more to hang, but most of the work is done thanks to putting up ladder stands back in Feb:)

Seed ticks here also...and if you get infested, try a nice hot bath with lots of vinegar...good for chiggers also!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

I think seed and sea have been lost in translation over the years LOL... W eusually called gthem sea ticks since you found them around water and marsh grass. Regardless, I cant stand them crawling on me. I stepped in my first nest when I was about 6 and thought they were little spiders.

Just be lucky you spotted them when you did. Amazing how fast those little buggers are. Don't know which I hate more those or chiggers. Someone was having a very bad day when chiggers and ticks were invented to say the least.
End of last week got a bunch of chiggers around my socks and a few up higer didn't even feel them. Now I'm in that nice itching stage. The wife says just don't itch,,,easier said than done. Oh well guess it's the price we pay for hitting the woods early. Have got to be more careful when passing thru that tall grass.

I have been eat up three times this year out scouting around. Here in NC we have a lot of pine trees with broom straw. Areas like this are prime tick habitat and they are really bad this time of the year, it only takes rubbing against the right bush and you will be eat up with them( That sounds like something else in life!!!). A good spray to keep seed ticks off you is something called Mr. Coulston's insect and tick spray. I may have misspelled it . This stuff you spray on your cloths let sit over night and use up to six weeks before reapplying . It is good stuff obviously i wasn't wearing long pants with this stuff when i got eat up before. You think i would have taken prevention either the second or third time . I guess i was just hard headed.
Don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today!

i had spray on which usually works but I had already put up 4-5 stands and I think that had worn off from sweating. Ive fgot a few chigger bites, but nothing major and a little poision ivy on my hands..
as said, its the price we pay for early season work. But its worth it later on;)

Not real fond of anything that crawls these days! I got diagnosed with Lyme disease 5-6 weeks ago and am just getting to the point where I'm starting to feel human again. I see no purpose in any little critter that wrecks my relaxation in the woods....whether it be ticks, chiggers or mosquitos!

Re: hate those little sea ticks(what we call them)
spray chigger bites w/ cheap hair spray. Got a neighbor that swears by 7 dust in his socks, lol.
