Re: batten down the hatches
Stan, where are you located? I am in Craven County and the school system just called and advised us that schools will close at 1:00pm tommorrow. I fueled up the lanterns and the generator, moved the boat to an open area, all the usual stuff. I pray that it doesn't come inland this far but I just can't see it moving north quick enough to miss us. Ya'll, this is a very dangerous storm. As Stan requested, please pray for all of us that are in Hurricane Earl's path.
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

Looks like this one is going to make it to Canada, Nova Scotia is in it's path.

The inner most bands are coming on shore here in Eastern NC as we speak. It's going to be a rough night here in Carolina. Why does it seem that most hurricane come on shore as it is turning dark? I can't see what's about to hit me
.
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

I have seen my fair share of hurricanes and dealing with high water having lived on the water here in eastern NC. I hope all we get is rain and 20 - 30 mph winds. It is about time for some to come to NC , like i say all we do is hope they aren't bad. Stay safe to all in Earls path. Chris Braddy

Re: batten down the hatches
Ray I thought I posted a answer to Your question about My location last night.I quess the computer rat ate it.I am located outside of Pink Hill.We are loccated about 18 miles from Kinston,20 miles from Jacksonville .We are about 40 air miles from the coast. Not much going on here with the weather at this time. Some light rain and wind.I think I have everything secured and am as ready as I will ever be for this storm. It's not the wind or rain that bothers Me but the clean up after the storm and the possibility of being without power for a week or two that I dread.Hopefully We won't catch the full brunt of this bad boy and it will skirt the coast as predicted. But it will not have to wobble to the left very much for Us to take a licking. The last one put us on a island for about two weeks until the flood waters receded.with no ice left, food running low I sure was glad to see the waters recede and let us start making trip to Kinston to get some ice and food.Ray keep Your eyes open and head down for the next 24 hours.I will check in with Ya'll as long as We have power.Stan

Re: batten down the hatches
You are correct Wes, it could have been much worse. Our yard is full if Huge pines and it's difficult to go to sleep with high winds rocking tose pine to and fro but we were very fortunate last night and only had a few limbs fall in the yard and lots of pinestraw. A little clean up and we'll be good as new
. Thanks for the prayers guys.
God Bless !!!!!!!!!
