Canadian Food Plotting

Post by dreamer »

On June 13th the Eastern Ontario QDMA held a held a Field Day. :D

These are the results.

3 weeks prior to planting we sprayed with round up and killed off the existing weeds. the plot was damn near perfect to plant when everyone was here.

We planted Superb-uck. It has brassica plants as a nurse crop to pretect the prennials from sun scorch and allow the roots to develope a strong root system.
here is what it looked like on June 13th.

We put in an exclusion cage to see what the turn out is way off the normal travel area. It is surrounded by a 4 ft page wire fence to keep the deer out and survey the area come spring.

Here is a photo of the same area after 4 weeks. We had fertilized with a 19-19-19 at 300 lbs to the acre after our soil test showed a 6.0 PH.

I'm a little behind on the photos but here is a 10 week review of the same plot, but to show you true results we had to cut in short to the exclusion cage.

There is a bit of weeds poking up through but they will be long gone after planting Amplified and mowing monthly next year.
I'll send photos in the spring of the results as it comes through and I'll post buck photos harvested within 100 yds of this same area. I have some special guests coming to spend some time here in the fall.

Thanks to everyone that attended. hopefully all are having the same results.

I'll keep ya'll posted. :D

Unfortunately the border keeps close eye on seeds crossing the border. I would send you a sample but I don't need them raiding my place thinking its weed or something. It is strickly controled.

Sorry pal, :x

Hey Boo.

I call in teh local neighbour.

Almost everyone has a neighbor with a round up license. I can't get one nor do I want one. It's easier for him to come in and spray in an hour then me having to buy it, store it, learn all about it and so on.

Bang on a couple doors, I think the neighbour would do it for you. I've seen it as cheap as $35 an acre to $60. Killing the competition is important. Get rid of the competiting plants and the seed you put down will thrive.
