Newb got new Axiom and 1st Deer w/it!!

Post by fixxr »

Hi all
Newb here been lurking for a while. Thanks for all the info!!!!!
(Been deer hunting since I was 10 or 12 and am now 50!!!)

Well after having a bad shoulder and an even worse vertical bow season last year I did my research and decided on the new Axiom kit and man am I pleased!!

While I was waiting for it to arrive I went to the local Bass Pro Shops and snatched up some boltcutter BH's and I waited some more....

It arrived yesterday and after watching the video and assembly (Came in a small 3' long box) I was ready to launch the 1st bolt.
After some minor tweaks to the scope it was dead on at 10 20 and 30 yards

Time for a BoltCutter BH!!

1st shot DEAD ON AT 20 YARDS again and again at 20 yards right on the money!
30 yards same thing!!!

I WAS IMPRESSED!!

We had a short antlerless season (ended last night) on private property and Ive been seeing a good deal of deer lots of bucks but no single mature doe by herself and I really didn't want to touch off a round from my muzzle-loader this close to the bow opener I felt confident and took the Axiom.

Well all I can say is WOW....it all came together..just before dark...

Big doe stepped out into the bean field I judge the yardage at close to 30 put the 30 yard reticule on her and the bolt was through her ribcage and buried in the dirt before she even moved....ran 40 yards and piled up in a heap.

From the box to field to meat for the freezer I am sold on the Excalibur product!!

Congratulations fixxr. Glad to hear of other successful Michigan hunters during the early antlerless season. I'm so glad that the DNR has finally allowed crossbow use in most of the state. After all these years watching states around us be allowed to use them, it's a great feeling to be allowed now.

I bought an Axiom kit at my local hunting shop (this was supposed to be my entry xbow). I went home and did some internet searching and decided that I really wanted a Vortex. I called the dealer back and they said that as long as it wasn't fired I could bring it back and trade up. I made the switch and then the upgrading started

Congrats! Welcome to the forum! We are waking up to our 12th day of the GA archery season. It's been close to 100 degrees for the last few days. I've only hunted two mornings... nothing but squirrels.
