2-fer on youth day

Post by Rich »

I borrowed my hunting buddies son for our Youth Hunt today since his dad had to work. We are having a great acorn crop this year and everyone is saying how hard it is going to be to find the deer with all the food available. Well that may hold true, but the thing we are missing this year is the water, all of our creeks are bone dry. So I decided to to hunt the white oaks next to ponds that still were holding water. It paid off for Daniel at 7:05 with a doe and this spike later in the afternoon. What a great hunt for both of us. Sorry no pics of the doe, the camera was with my buddy who was still hunting and we had to butcher the day right away since the temps were in the 90's yesterday.

Your right Bob, the smile on his face is priceless. His dad and I have been letting him tag along on deer and turkey hunts since he was about 6 (now 13). Daniel is probably the most well mannered and respectful kids I know, it was such a joy to hunt with him. Plus he is a crack shot, I seen both deer come in, but could not see them when he shot due to trees/hollies in the way. He was told to shot when the opportunity presented itself and took great shots with his muzzleoader, he dropped both deer in their tracks.

Gerald,

It is a T/C Black Diamond, his dad had to cut down the stock due to his son's short arms.
