Crankaroo question

Post by lscha »

I happen to like using my Crankaroo and I have used it with my foot in the stirrup and flat on the shooting bench. Now, the ratchet won't stay in position in the flat position. (started yesterday) The spring is working but I'm wondering if it is weakened. If I hold the lever open it will work, if I don't hold the lever fully open it prevents the ratchet from engaging. I won't let anyone else use it for fear they won't engage the trigger and then try to take the Crankaroo off. That would really hurt. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I first thought the screws needed adjusting but they are very tight in position.

Common problem that happens with wear. Danny said he brought it to Bill T's attention that it happens and he's surprised it didn't happen sooner. The anti-reverse lever won't stay in place when the bow is on a bench (seems it needs gravity to put it in the right position). It is still safe to use when the bow is vertical so I'm just going to live with it. No big deal. Nice to know if you own one and use it.

I'm not sure now. I thought it was the old one because when I told Danny when I bought it (almost 2 years ago) he said it was the original. It wobbles a bit on my Vixen II so that should tell you. Anyway, he said they were hard to come by anymore. He is sending the shorter anti-reverse lever from the newer ones in case I want to experiment. I had to order another rope cocker anyway because I lost mine in the woods last season and, of course Dave wants a Deluxe case for the Ibex.

I don't want to send the crankaroo in because I don't want to be without it and it isn't that serious of a problem.

You could always add a small weight to the top of the lever to make sure it stays down.

bstout The older original Crankaroo has an Excalibur decal on the top, the newer C2 is plain with no decal. I have the C2 And it has the decal (package say C2) ? Looked on acc. page here and its showing no decal and not stating its the C2 ?

Thanks for the pictures. I realize that I have the newer one (shorter) and it is slightly wobbly on the new Vixen II but fits the Ibex snugly. How confusing.
Soooo.....it is the new one that gets slack after a while. Maybe both do.

Thanks for the pictures bstout . It verifies that I have the C2 Also noticed that the crank has a lot smaller dia. rope than the rope cocker. I've only used the rope cocker, have the crank for wife or down the road if I need it . Thanks again

My crankaroo has a painted logo but measures like the original as seen above.
