Rangefinder & mount

Post by Northwoods »

I am interested in adding the Excal Rangefinder mount to my Ibex. Does any rangefinder work, or do I need a specific model. There is a Leupold on the set up on the Excal accessory page...

Thanks for the help! :D

If you get a rangefinder that is a vertical model you will need high scope bases (not in the Excalibur mounting system) for the range finder ring to clear the weaver base and the range finder will be on the side of the scope.
If you get a horizontal model the range finder will be on top of the scope but you still have to take the top of the rings off to mount it and will have to plan on checking the scopes zero .
This would be a good time to up grade the aluminum Excalibur rings with a set of steel ones.

Slight correction, forgive me. You can just take the mount screws loose, lift scope and assembled rings off mount, install 3rd ring and replace scope on mount.

In most cases, you will only be a few clicks off at most.
