Best year ever..

Post by strum »

So far this year i got and excal"""GREAT"" Harvested my first crossbow doe""GREATER"" Harvested my first crossbow buck
''GREATER STILL"" Then I shot this guy (my personal best) this morn with my rifle,,..
Im so blessed this year to be able to go out and enjoy the outdoors..Praise God!!

I got my Boltcutters yesterday and spent some time tuning and i must say they are shooting dead on with the firebolts,,no complaints here..
got in the woods around 3 yesterday and drug a rag with doe pea to about 40 yds from my tree and put it in a holly bush.
didnt see anything so i left my stand for in the morn,,got in there around 6 this morn( somthing told me i better bring a gun) and around 7:30 a spike came in downwind of the rag and went under me and stright to it .then with nose down followed my drag path out .
Around 8:30 coming from the same direction i saw movment ..Finaly got a look and counted the horns(here in Ga..you can only shoot 2 bucks and one must be 4point at least on one side) to my suprise it had 8 and gave me a perfect 70 yrd shot,,
I have to say I know this is a crossbow sight and im all for them and will use my exo the rest of the year but I got so
excited i didnt think i could shoot..had to talk myself calm ..any way for this part of the world he is a more than fair sized deer and crossbow or gun its not easy..But it sure is fun!!just thought I would share..

Hey Strum, that's a beautiful buck you got there! You should be very proud of him, I would!!!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

Is'nt it just a joy to go hunting. You seriously have the rut fever. My wife does'nt get into any serious conversations with at this time of year because it usually reverts back to deer hunting. She'll say let go to town tomorrow. I'll say but the wind wil be from a certian direction or there is a front coming through I have to be in the woods. Is'nt it just the best thing of all to be able to go hunting. I am glad to see and hear your exictment in your story. Congrats on a great year and one really nice buck. Aging :D
