Questions on the Axiom

Post by leoalls »

Do the dissipator bars fit the Axiom? I read on another forum that they do not come with the CB but that it is considered an optional item. Also what would be the recommended max weight/length of an arrow and broadhead for the Axiom?

Thanks,
Leo

The bars should fit the Axiom is really a Ibex with out the trimmings to keep down cost.
Their really is no max weight for bolts that I know of just make sure it weighs at least 350 gr.

Thanks Gerald. I suspected that you could use the pads and that there would be no max weight. I've been wanting a crossbow for awhile now. I've looked at a lot of them and have done a ton of homework. I've decided after the first of the year to go with the Excalibur Axiom for my first crossbow. I am also getting back into hunting after 12 years of not going out because of health reasons. I'm in North Carolina and before I can get any crossbow I have to have a pistol permit. I'll be getting that over the holidays. I can't buy off line because of the laws here but I already have a local dealer to buy from and they seem to be very knowledgeable. They said that they will even help you zero your system in before you leave.

Actually it's a Phoenix with a different paint job and no DBs.

The DBs will fit, but I'd try it without them before I ordered a set. I took them off my Phoenix because I like to be able to un-string without fooling with removing pads.
Didn't affect performance a bit, and I can't really see where they helped all that much, but then I've been shooting Excals for over a decade and have learned to ignore a little noise & vibration.

BTW - catwhiskers on the string seem to offset the removal of the DBs. I loose a few fps, but it's not made a difference to any of the deer I've shot with the Phoenix.
Get close, put the arrow where it should go, and speed isn't much of a factor.
