Hello from a Newbie

Post by birddog1520 »

Hello from North Central Pa.

After months of research and handling, shooting crossbows I've decided to make the Excalibur Axiom my first crossbow. I hunted with vertical bows for 20 years but due to shoulder problems had to give up archery hunting for several years but since Pa. has legalized crossbows I can now enjoy the sport again.

I am completely new to crossbows and am open to any and all advice I can obtain about this new to me hunting tool. Please help me shorten my learning curve it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You in Advance, Randy, The Birddog. :D

Hi Randy (birbdog), The most important thing to remember is KEEP YOUR FINGERS BELOW THE RAIL. Beileve me you will only forget once. The second thing is make sure you have an arrow on the rail. Dry fires can crack limbs. Don't get distracted while shooting, be safe and have fun. :D Also Welcome to the forum :) :) :)
I am a hunter and proud of it.

Good advice from spitfire, the sun came out this afternoon and I felt like shooting the excal and after reading spitfires responce to you I fired half a dozen arrows and somehow managed to have my thumb in the way of the string wow I didnt know what happend at first but when the pain started I soon knew what happened. It just nicked the top of the thumb , That will be a reminder to me from here out. Welcome to the forum the best people are here , and are willing to help.
