I don't know if it makes things any harder but I really think the over-all layout leaves a lot to be desired. Way too cluttered, hyper-links too scrunched together, all things largely due to the poor use of screen space. Dark colours are very visually distracting, lack of grid lines dividing topics is a minus. Even things like the two Excal logo's next to each other at the top of the page is something a web page designer or ad layout designer would avoid.
Am I being nit-picky? You better believe it! It's in my nature and part of what I do for a living is pick apart equipment designs from an ergonomic and aesthetic stand point. We're always struggling to make things visually appealing and easy and friendly to use.
Anyway, this is what we've got like it or not. I don't think it will change much. It's a large undertaking to re-vamp something like this. Hopefully next time Excal will keep with the same K.I.S.S. philosophy with their web design as they do with their equipment design.
