What Crop Is This?

Post by Galgo »

Ok much though I am ashamed to admit it I'm a city slicker who has hunted dozens of farms for 6 or 7 years but I have never come across this crop. This is in southern Ontario. Any info you can give me about it in relation to whitetail deer hunting is appreciated.

Hard to see but it has tiny blue flowers coming only from the stem at the first leaves. Nothing higher in the plant....

I'm thinking deer would love that. When is it usually harvested? We are having a very dry July here don't know if that makes a difference but they are not doing so well.

Thanks B dog maybe it is soya and I've never noticed the little blue flowers before. Also the plants are allot smaller than I expected probably becasue of the drought. Still no pods either...so we have 2 votes Chickory, 1 vote Soya and I am still clueless! :D

Beans, and an awesome crop to hunt over! Beans bring in deer for the whole season due to the loss during harvest, they also make for a great turkey gathering spot.
Enjoy!

And another vote for beans...coming from my father-in-law who runs a mill and sees them from start-to-finish.
