I need to decide which broadhead Im going to use this season. In the past I used wasp broadheads on my Horton crossbow, but I just bought a new Ibex and want to get your opinions on which broadhead works best for my Ibex.
Thanks Badapple

Re: Boltcutter vs Rage vs Wasp or others???
If it helps I would suggest Rage. The new two blade Crossbow line looks good. I will stick to the 3 blade this season again. I have taken 8-9 deer with the 3 blade and each dropped under 50 yards, two dropped under 10, I might add all the hits were good. Blood loss was very good too. Just check the blade seating in the O-ring before loading them on deck.
Good luck in whatever you choose.

Re: Boltcutter vs Rage vs Wasp or others???
There are some good Wasps and some bad Wasps. I personally would not use a Wasp Boss if a truck load was dumped in my driveway. They have a bad track record with me . . .and long blood trails according to the data I've gathered over past three seasons.
Anyway, I believe in cutting surface. Most of today's mechanicals will be accurate and will perform as advertised if used properly with a well built arrow.
The difference is the amount of cutting they do after the hit. A field tip will kill a deer if placed perfectly. However, what happens if the hit is not so perfect? That's when you need a large amount of cutting surface.
I shot a walking 6 point and the arrow hit too far back. It went 25 yards +/-. I give credit solely to the broadhead, a three bladed monster with a 2" cutting diamenter. I've since doubled lunged a couple of does that simply went to their knees and expired . . .didn't take a step.
There is a shock factor in a very large cut. I've had deer go further when I made similar hits with my .270.
The next one I hit may go 3 miles, but, based on the data and my experience . . .I'm willing to bet it doesn't.

I have both NAP Spitfire and Trophy Ridge Stricknines in my quiver. I use the Spitfires on groundhog and the Stricknines on deer. Both aer 125 grain.
In this picture is the Slick Trick, the Spitfire and the Stricknine . . .all 125 grain.

its my first year with the xbow but i will be shooting the boltcutter.
Re: Boltcutter vs Rage vs Wasp or others???
I've used Wasps in the past and have no complaints with them. I have switched to Rage 2 blades a couple years ago and prefer them over the wasps. Accurate as he!! and DEADLY. I'll be trying out the Rage X-bow 125 gr this year as well.

Badapple since you have the Wasp give them a try. If they don't shoot well then try something else. There are lots to choose from, but the key is, put it in the sweet spot.

Mech BH's are easier to get dialed in fer hunting. Fixed may take a few exra working sessions. I use Spitfire & Snuffer 125, plus Planter sent me 5 2 blade Rage he wanted me to try out on deer this Fall
