Throughout our history
when it meant our life
our greatest companion
was the trusted knife

In the hunter's hand
carving up meaty kill
or in the Indian land
token of Warrior's skill

Stemming foreign tide
when ammo ran low
"Fix Bayonet!" was cried
"red blood will flow!"

So when you fashion steel
despite design's intent
what man's fist first feels
is complete empowerment

And for those whom hold
the Bladesmith's knife
feel it magically mold
to that craftsman's life

For a part of their soul
forged in heart's flame
goes into what they know
and what bears their name.
