Can I mount my old deer rifle scope on an Excalibur xbow with the parts that come with a new xbow ( rings, bases, etc.)
Thanks!

Question...will a regular rifle scope fit an Excal?
Re: Question...will a regular rifle scope fit an Excal?
A good quality rifle scope should be fine. Some of the cheaper scopes won't hold up to the recoil.
I use a Leupold shotgun scope on mine.

You may run into some issues with parallax at the distances that you will shoot your crossbow. Most hi-power rifle type are corrected for parallax at 100 yds. They will still work on your Excal.but you might not get the focus quite as you would like and your groups might suffer a little. With all that said a lower power scope wont have much parallax problems( a 1x will have 0 parallax),not until you use the upper ends of a 2x-7x(7x) or 3x-9x(9x) will you have much.

Hey, thanks guys for the scope info. I was hoping a good shotgun or rifle scope would fit the bases that come with an Excal.
Thanks again,

2 cents from the cheap seats. The size ring mounts and scope base w/ Excal are called 'Weaver' 1" dovetails. They come in three heights, low, med, and high. Common opinion has it you'll want the lowest that will work w/ your scope choice, trial and error. Most hi-power rifles use them vs. the next most common called '.22 or 3/8" dovetails. Barnett Quad 400 had that type, dunno about today. Very flimsy, imho. There's also 30 mm stuff out there, refers to diameter of scope body. Fits same Weaver style bases.
Parallax is an optical illusion, you can check for it by putting a scoped weapon on sand bags, aligning the xhairs w/ something, then w/o touching the rig, move your eye around the bell housing. You'll see the xhairs appear to move on the target.
It's defeated by three methods. 1. hold your cheek the same on stock every shot. 2. Get a properly adjusted scope, i.e. 100yd for rifles or much less [dunno exact range] for xbows. 3. AO [adjustible objective lens] commonly used by target or varmint shooters. You need to set the range for each shot, a real Pita for hunting. They also have an 'infinity' setting but I've never used it on the ones I own.
All of that being said, I'm a big fan of the Excal Vari-zone.
1 lifetime warranty
2 adjusts so all your aim points are 'on' from 10-50 yds
3 adequate in low light w/ bigger 'triangles' for 30-50.
Can be picked up used on the cheap, watch Trading Post.
Edited: 2nd line should read 'Weaver' dovetails and 1" rings, IIRC, the actual dovetail size is 5/8"
