Late 90's Exomag speed for Nikon Bolt XR

Post by Old Buddy »

I have a '97/'98 (if memory serves correct) Exomag that has a cast riser and carved tip limbs. I think it's 185 lb pull and it's in trailcover camo...Anyways, Im looking at putting a new Nikon Bolt XR scope on it. I need to know what the speed of the bow is. If it isnt right at 305 fps, then Nikon has a downloadable program to clarify what yardages correspond with the aiming circles. I was thinking it was right around 300fps. Does anyone who has or had one of these dinosaurs know what it is?

g'day, ok if its an exomag it''ll have (excalibur exomag) printed on both limbs as in the photo's below, l have two 185 lb exomags, using firebolts weighing in at 430 grains & using a pro-crono its shooting at 283 fps. also the string was an excalibur super flemish string (2097) fitted.. so using 350 grain min l'd say at a guess 290 fps..best regards...great bows ah..also dinosaurs there not. l own also x no. of later model excaliburs & these old dinosaurs as you call them are the best excalibur l own by far without a doubt, excalibur will never make a bow like the exomag again they are so smoothe to shoot its unreal, thats in my opinion though. & for what its worth l'm using a hawke (crossbow SR) scope on one & on the other an excalibur drop-zone. good luck anyhow

My bow is exactly the same as yours. I have an exocet in that camo too and until earlier this year I had an Exocet in their "In House" camo...so I do have some of the "older" Excaliburs too. I always thought that the Exocet was 275 fps and the Exomag was 290 fps...but wasn't sure. They are good looking bows. I had an Exomax for a hot minute, but I went back to my "older" Excaliburs.
