Lucky or Capn' Hook?

Post by OkXbowHunter »

Trying to figure out a name for this one....the first thing that comes to mind is "Lucky" or "Capn' Hook".

What do you think?

Ya, I'm going with tripod too. Maybe call him lucky after you put an arrow through him.

This is the first time he's shown up on any of our cameras. Not sure where he came from.

About 1/2 mile south and across a highway is another 80 acres we hunt and I've seen a lame Spike over there. He can get around amazingly fast when he wants to even with a busted up hip (he winded me one morning). I suspect this little guy can move when scared.

I told my buddy that I kinda feel sorry for Tripod and he asked "But do you feel sorry enough to use your last buck tag on him?" I said "No, not that bad!"

I did notice that his tarsal glands are coal black in another pic. So it will be interesting to see if he hangs around.

Tripod

A guy that was hunting with me on my property shot a small buck that we couldn't find a few years ago. I found some bone that looked like front leg bone. Two years later saw a buck behind the house, out of season, that looked like the one in the picture except he still had his front leg, just looked small and non-functional, and his rack was small and all messed up like the picture. Don't know for sure, but the age of the deer appeared to be right to be the one my friend shot. Never saw it again though.

BTW, I got some pictures of a 3-legged deer also a few years ago.
