Phoenix for Moose
Re: Phoenix for Moose
Welcome aboard Jumper.
You should be fine with the Phoenix and a solid BH as many have already said. I myself went with the Equinox as my choice of xbow for Moose, but that's strickly a personal choice - the lighter and lesser fps Excals like the Phoenix will work just fine!
Whereabout in Northern ON are you from?

Attacks, well they are more of a charge/running towards you by a Moose, are due to guides or amateurs putting themselves in those confrontational situations. When provoked in the rut period, by calling in a Moose close by and imitating a side to side movement with a fake rack or paddles (they have poor eyesight – remember their eyes are located on the side of their head and not in front like we do), you’re telling the dominant male that you’re ready to fight…I have no pitty whatsoever for someone who videotapes themselves and gets run at by a 1200lbs Moose! You can get at an arms length away from a Moose and as soon as you say a word they will take off like a bat outt hell through the brush – and even with 60” racks, they can run full speed ahead and not get caught up – THAT is a real rush that you have to experience once in your life!!strum wrote:Welcome Jumper

Re: Phoenix for Moose

I found this answer as to their eyesight.
Moose do not see well at close range and must roll their eyes forward in order to see items up close. This is not due so much to poor vision as it is to eye placement. Because their eyes are set more to the sides of the head they have a rather large blind spot in front of them.

Re: Phoenix for Moose
Sorry guys it is closer to $600 shipped and Paypal fees to me in Ontario, from Michigan(wish there was a cheaper way), one other member said it should be worth $450 for that package. I also wanted to know if there is anything I should ask him with reference to the crossbow?

Re: Phoenix for Moose
How is he shipping it? I've used the US Postal service, with great luck buying car parts and it's way cheaper then UPS or FedX, because there's no SPAM! fees.
That unit new with all the goodies is well over $700 not delivered, so it still not a bad deal.
I would ask if there are any bruises, wear or damage and some close up pics to be sure.

I was under the impression that you have seen this bow and ready to purchase. Buying it without seeing is risky regardless of price. It is possible there may be cracks in the limb as a result of dry firing. What if....
$600 is too much for a three year old bow. A brand new PHOENIX with Lite Stuff Package at Le Baron is $665 http://www.lebaron.ca/pdf_files_fall11/ ... ssbows.pdf
A few times a year they have no tax day (usually before long weekends). You get another 10% off if your are a member.

There still quite a few extras beyond the lite stuff package to consider too.

Re: Phoenix for Moose
That is what I was thinking (extras included), basically it is $500 for everything, and the rest is the USPS shipping and Paypal fees, no other way around it is there? He figured 50-75 arrows threw it, not even hunted, bought it due to a bad shoulder, better now and back to the traditional bow.
Guys let me know if you have a fairly new Phoenix/Ibex/Exocet for sale maybe I can save some $$ on shipping and paypal.
