Bohning Helix Tower Fletching Jig ... Anybody Try one ?

Post by jcollins0001 »

Bohning Helix Tower Fletching Jig

Has anyone tried one of these.

I am looking to fletch some bolts and looking to buy a jig to do so. What are your thoughts if any on this jig vs anyone you have had success with?

Plans are to try Gold Tip Lazer II, 2" blazer, luminoc, and 100 gr Slick Trick Mags
with my new Equinox.

I also ordered a Boo Custom String with whiskers.

Hoping this will be a lethal setup for me next year :)

I use one and does a good job but kind of cheap made for the money.still use my old bitz a lot when I want perfection without the mess of cleaning a lot . from what everyone says I think my next will be the Arizona easy fletch.

You may want to look at the AZ EZ fletch bolt,it was designed specifically for the 2 inch vane.It puts on a very unique helical ,that stablizes a lot faster then the traditional helical.

The tower is delicate and is meant to be used without the rear insert. The Arizona Bolt is a great tool!

Will the The Arizona Bolt work with carbon bolts
"firebolts or Golt tip II or III"
or do you need a special adapter ? The reason I ask, is it shows it with an alluminum bolt in the pic on there website.

The tower works ok with plastic vanes, however the slots were too narrow to allow for the use of feathers. I also built my own adapter to use with the 22 series arrows as the stock one they send did not let me get the vanes placed as close to the nock as I wanted. I fletched them with the rear insert already glued into the shaft.

Most of the arrows I make up now are done with a single wing jig as it gives me finer control and better consistency.

If I was going to try the 2" vanes then I would want to get a jig that gives them plenty of helix such as the AZ bolt tool. I am also going to put in a plug to go with feathers over plastic vanes, but fletch up what you like.

Aluminum arrow shafts are in the same size class as crossbow arrow shafts.
