My little sister's father in law is a big gun collector. He had 18 high dollar rifles stolen out of a hidden gun safe in his home. The two guys that stole them got caught trying to sell them a few days later in another town and he got all but two back. It was two local cops that had robbed him. He had shown them the rifles in the safe.

Found a good article about the LGR on National Review Online:

Does anyone have any info on the semi auto 22's, my Dad was telling me, they were legal prior to the registry and since became a prohibited weapons and now there are concerns of the RCMP looking to confiscating them before C-19 is passed?

Hey Taz not sure what you mean. Go on any on line gun shop and you will see plenty of Semi Auto .22's for sale in Canada

I'll have to see if I can get more info, it's a particular 22 from what I understand, and has something to do with the fact of it having a magazine. I've been searching online with no luck on the whole issue, I'm missing part of the puzzle. :(

I seem to remember the limitation being on the size of the magazine and not the fact it was a semi-auto.
Ammo clips such as large banana clips were outlawed.

I have a 22 lr and have a 25 round banana for it and seen them on shelves of my local gun store a day ago, I believe it had something to do with the fact it was an assault looking rifle.

Large Capacity Magazines for 22's are Legal.

What you are likely referring to relates to this BS: http://www.canada.com/mobile/iphone/sto ... id=5957717

Seems "They" can rule anything that looks like an assault rifle taboo whenever they wish...

Yep, just got off the phone with my Dad and he outlined pretty much what the link reads, pretty sad. :(

Good info to know.
So if large capacity clips for 22s are legal for possession, does that mean that they are legal for hunting as well??

They certainly are, yes. There is no limit on rimfire ammo magazine sizes for hunting.

Senate voted today in favour of C-19. Last step, off to the Governor General for Royal Ascent.

Could happen as early as tomorrow.

Solomon Friedman appeared on The Source today to explain the ammunition laws and Quebec's challenge to the registry data: http://www.sunnewsnetwork.ca/video/feat ... 7471625001
