I purchased two packs of Excalibur Firebolts last week and upon opening the second box noticed a defect on one of the fletchings. One of the fletchings has a semi-circular cut missing
Do you think this defect warrants seeking a replacement? I have not tried to fire it off yet and am uncertain as to the impact on accuracy.
I would set it to the side & sight the bow in. When i know the bow is on i would try it at 20/30 & 40yds. If it's not that far off i personally wouldn't worry about it. May even be shooting same poi as the others.
I take my arrows that want to drift off poi for whatever reason and use them for small critter's & such. Junk arrows if you will, if i launch them off into the wild blue yonder it's no loss.
If you feel as though you want to return them as a warranty issue it's your right...just let us know where your at ( USA or Canuck side of the border ) and we will try to steer you in the right direction.

It is only one arrow that has the odd fletching. Now that I really look at it more closely, that fletching is smaller than the other two (Image below). I don't trust it and will see what the distributor has to say about replacing it.
Not sure what you're talking about Wheelie. I really like these Firebolts and have have great results so far. Just wanted to get some opinions on this specific issue.
Where in Mtl did you buy them ? Sail ? Londero ? Baron ? I am sure either would take it back. At just over $9/ea I would not be shy to bring it back if there is a chunk missing out of the fletching.
I purchased it online from FishingWorld (fishingworld.ca) - they are excellent BTW.
FW offered to have me send it back for exchange or to deal with Excal directly, but cost of shipping is prohibitive. I am still holding onto a glimmer of hope: that Excal will send me another one. As Bullzeye noted, these arrows are not cheap.

I could probably refletch it but I am not setup to do it right. The accuracy of these arrows is not something I take lightly.
Bullzeye wrote:Any reason you are ordering arrows online?? is shipping free, because if not must be pretty pricey with the shipping.
I like to encourage online endeavors. Regardless, those arrows were part of a larger order. Therefore the savings that can be found online, by doing price comparisons, and the convenience of delivery to my front door make up for any shipping costs (which were quite fair).

I dunno about that bullzeye. Arrows online including postage to Australia save me 35-50-% with a large order. As long as your patient enough to shop around: wink:
Hi Lightfoot, besides the damaged vane, you mentioned that that vane may be a different size? If its not right and your not setup to change it I'd get it replaced, or put it aside until your setup to fletch it. I didn't see your picture, but Cossack is right saying even a little vane damage can affect flight. Any damage at all to mine, and they get put aside until I've got a full set ready to refletch.
