Next Epidural

Hey Folks,
I received a call just a short while ago from the local hospital. My next spinal epidural is scheduled for May 31st, at 12:30PM. I am glad but I won't say that I am not a little nervous because I am at the thought of it and the risks involved. It hurts like heck while they are injecting the medicine into the spinal cord but I am so glad that it is not to many more days away. They will put more medicine in my spinal cord and the pain will stay away longer. I am looking forward to getting it done and being pain free again. I am going to stay as busy as I can in the meantime to help keep my mind off of the procedure.

Am glad to read they've scheduled you for more pain relief!

Hey Wes,
Thank you friend. How are you and the Mrs.? How is your garden? I haven't got mine in yet, my son has been too busy so far. Hopeful at least by the first off June he can have it in. I can no longer do it and my wife cannot do the prep work. She can put the seeds in and take care of it after and I might be able to sit on my butt and slide along without having to get up back and forth. That may work well for me, I will try that this year. But I will make sure and take care of my body first.

Thanks to you all for your kind words and for your prayers. I will tell the family hello from you Mark, and I am sure they will send back a big hello and how are you? With the 310 lbs that I weigh at the moment I would probably break the table in two doing a jig on it. It would look funny with me and a table collapsed around me in the Emergengy Room,

. The smoker is going really slowly, much slower than I would like but I do only what my body is allowing me too. And lately it has not been very much. I have a few photos and will take a few more of some pieces of metal that I have cut for the door edges. I cut two pieces for door edges and that was all I could do today. I can't wait to have that epidural. Oh boy, let me tell you masboy that I am looking forward to be standing by that smoker eating ribs. It may not be as pretty as some of the professional BBQ/Smokers but I can say this that it will work and the best thing of all it won't go up into a Towering Inferno,

. I will never stop fighting the good fight, Canadian medicine is great but they have some advancements in the USA that I wish I could try. I will just go at a leisurely pace and take care of my body. The specialist told me that with the damage that is done to my back I will have to continue this type of treatment every month to three months. Hopefully with this treatment I will get more time pain free. That is what my pain specialist figures will happen because they will increase the amount of medicine they inject in my spinal cord. I am nervous but am looking forward to it. Not so much nervous as knowing how painful the pressure becomes when they inject the medicine in the spinal cord. Sorry for being so long winded but I am getting sore and it is time for a hot soak and then bed. Good Night all of you good folks, and have a great day tomorrow.

Short term pain for long term gain Raymond. That's what they say and I tend to believe it. Bite the bullet and get it over with.

How much pain is it?

Hammer on the thumb pain?
Kicked in the jewels pain?
Tax pain?
Kicked by a horse pain?
Appendix pain?
Hernia pain?

Been there, done those, came out the other side, as you will. Keep strong buddy.

I hope all goes well Raymond! Women have epidural often during child birth and its got to be better than both of those at the same time

Not that I would know, I was a chicken to have any kid come out of me

Thanks to you all for your well wishes and thoughts and prayers. Short term pain for long term gain, that is what it is all about. It would be a miracle if I never ever needed any more after this one. I am keeping busy and the days are counting down fast, I do what I can. I don't mind the needles when they are being inserted into the spinal cord. It is the pressure that hurts while the medication is being injected. I done great last time and I will handle it well again. I have a high pain threshold. The last time I was in the hospital for a week, they came that morning just before they were ready to take me into the O.R. to put in an IV. I was having trouble with my plumbing also, everything that I drank, it was coming out in 10 to 15 minutes later. I was so dehydrated that they could get into my veins because they were so small because of that. There were two nurses poking me with the IV needles all over my hands and arms and it did not even bother me. I truly, and I will swear on my Mom's grave that I never felt a stick. They were moving them around underneath the skin trying to catch a vein and I never even felt a bit of pain. Each one of them tried about 7 or 8 times apiece,

. They were nurse that have been in the hospital for about 20 years or more and they were getting peaked around the gills and couldn't stand picking me anymore. I said at one point for each of them to take an arm at the same time and poke all you want until you get a vein, their was no takers,

. Finally another nurse came in and put it in where the blood techs take their blood from. They could tell that I was a fisherman at one time because all commercial fisherman end up with skin like leather to poke a needle through it. I was on the ship offshore one time and I slice a couple of fingers open and I sewed them up with a rag in my mouth myself. Hurt like heck but I wasn't losing a big money trip,
