I checked out the Treewalker stands and they seem to be basically a summit with the Ol' man mesh seat Nice looking stands and may be a possibility but it's lookin like I'm gonna go with the Goliath it looks to fit my needs best plus it's hard to argue with all the positive comments from those that are using the Summit stands. Thank you all for your help it is greatly appreciated, I new I could count on the fantastic folks here at this site, so me and my Axiom will have a new view come this deer season. Some where between 15 and 30 above the ground.

Please don't stop offering advice, I can still use all I can get cause I aint been in the air for quite some time and can use all the help I can get.

Thanks Again,

Randy, The Birddog.

I would consider the harness to be just as important as the stand. Aways hook up at ground level and unhook when you get back down to the ground. I broke 5 bones coming out of a broken stand back in the 1970s and have used a harness ever since.

Another vote for the Summit. I use the Summit 180. It gives you the option of facing towards the tree or away from the tree. I am just getting in to bow hunting so I can't say how it is for that yet. It's a great stand for rifle hunting. I like the 180 because you sit down in the seat while climbing instead of on the rail. My hunting buddy fell backwards out of another Summit while climbing. He was not wearing a harness and only by the grace of God was he spared serious injury.Be safe, wear a harness, and good hunting.

Thank You much for the harness suggestion but a good harness is already on the list of things to get with the stand, not only because it is the smartest thing to do when in a tree stand but The Mrs. says she will not let me out of the house without one if I'm going to be in a tree stand and I don't like the consequences if I don't listen to The One That Must Be Obeyed.

Take a look at the Hunter Safety System Harness.
www.huntersafetysystem.com
The wife and I both use them because they are easy to put on in the dark and the HSS is very comfortable and light, plus some models have pockets which are handy for whatever you have that needs to be handy in a tree stand. A forum seach and you will see that the HSS is very popular as well.
Thanks for being safe!!

+1 I do NOT climb without the harness. Mine is hooked to the tree before I even step foot into the stand. And doesn't get unhooked until I am back on the ground.

Yes that HSS harness system is comfortable and very popular. I have had three stolen during break ins over the last couple years. They only took one climber stand but they get the harness everytime. I would have to give them credit for being very safe thieves if I thought they actually understood what they were taking.

Thank you much folks. The HSS is tops on the list we bought one for our son several years ago and he really likes it. Odds are that is what I will get.

Thanks warningshot I am always open to suggestion so I will take a look at the lone Wolf.

I was looking at the Big Game safety harness that doubles a a backpack for you stand. Does anyone here have any experience with this system? It looks pretty interesting. please let me know pros and cons on the Big Game harness.

Another happy Summit owner here.
As far as a harness, I put mine on as I get dressed, it is usually under my camo with only the tether strap exposed.
Also, seen a neat new gadget that keep the tree rope secured to the band that goes around the tree, all you have to do is connect yourself to strap. The safety rope is connected to the tree band by a series of quick releases, looks like it may help those of us who don't like the part where you have to keep raising and lowering your safety rope.

Pydpiper - I think I saw one of those on youtube when I was searching for tree stand videos it does look pretty cool but I need to take this tree stand thing one step at a time for now.

All good information. One additional item everyone should have is a suspension relief system just in case you fall even if you are wearing a full body harness. Summit sells one really cheap.

Trapman - Great advice my son has one for his Hunter Safety System and says he hopes never to have to use it but carries it just in case.
