Post by lungbuster »

How many of you guys just sight in for your broadheads and not with field points. I can tune my iceman to shoot any head so far but not the phoenix for example my slick tricks shoot outstanding with themselves but not with my field points. Thanks for the info

I use broadheads that will group with field points.

With the Slick Tricks I had the same problem. Great groups but NOT right with field points. I was playing around with fletching helical a few years ago and discovered that with an 8º helical (and 2" Blazer vanes) the Slicks suddenly were grouping right with field points!

Could be a simple adjustment to your arrows (fletching helical or increased weight at the point aka FOC) would solve the problem.

I always shoot with broadheads unless I go
to a 3D shoot. I'm sure I don't shoot as much
as a lot of us. Find a good broadhead and shoot.

Like "wabi" I had trouble getting my broadheads to shoot to same POI as field pts. After I switched to 2in. Blasers for fletching and brass inserts to get a little more FOC, the slick tricks shoot right with the field pts.I had assumed it was probably the brass inserts but I guess it could have been either or a combo.just a thought.

I shoot mechanicals (Rage) and the POI is the exact same as my field points.

I've shot Muzzy g5 Montec and rage. I think the rage has provided me with the best accurate y but the Montecs flew right with my bullet points.

I finally found out today that my X-Act's have the same POI as my field points :D
Bottom left arrow is the X-act, and the other a field point.

for me there,s nothing better than having your fieldpoints shoot the same poi as the broadheads your shooting and knowing you have the right arrow combo .

Most say their bheads will group the same as fieldpoints but I want them hitting the SAME HOLE. Slicks did well for me, but were 3 inches off but grouped great. Spitfires grouped great but were again in a different location from the field tips. I like shooting fieldtips so I dont tear my targets to peices so thats why I like using something that shoots the same. Im sure its others that group with them, but I stopped looking when I tried the rage bheads. All jokes aside, it hits the same exact hole as your field tips. No changing the scope adjustments. They really excel out past 30 yards also. 50 yards is dead on.

every bow is different though.. but as picky as I am I found the rage heads worked best since I want dime groupings at 30-40 yards!

Most of the modern day broadheads will group well, but, I too demand exact flight with my fieldpoints . . .and there are several that can do that.

I also want my broadhead to have the most cutting surface my bow can handle and still get the arrow completely through the deer. I do not want to go into the next county looking for my arrow either.

We kill via blood loss . . .makes sense to me to make the largest hole possible.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.
