Bolt Problem
Shot my new Eclipse today. Out of the box at 20 yards
it was 1.5 inch to the right and 1 inch low. 3 clicks to
the left and 2 clicks up and it was dead on. Even my wife
put them in the 50 cent bullseye.
Problem is a two parter. 1. I have a Morrell Yellow
Jacket Extreme Broad head target and this thing would
bury the bolt 1/2 way up the vanes. Where can I order
a Bolt Puller?
2. I'm shooting the Excal Firebolt Carbon bolts with 150gr
Boltcutter broad heads. When I'd pull out the arrow it
looked like it had melted plastic/glue/ or something
on it. Is there a coating on these I need to remove
before shooting? You can scrape it off with your finger
nails but that's a PTA.
Thanks,
Dano

Re: Bolt Problem
I shoot at a Rhinehart 18-1 target. You can shoot both broadheads and field points at it and it stands up to a lot of abuse. It is solid foam and you can keep turning it on multiple sides. The stuff on your arrows is most likely from your morell target.

Re: Bolt Problem
Try putting some dish soap or silicone spray on the arrows and broadheads to make removal easier from the target bag. Only use one broadhead at a a time or you risk damaging them! Thats how I damaged my boltcutters!
There are some pretty nice arrow removing tools available.

Re: Bolt Problem
I fixed the problem of removal. Made my own
bolt puller. Works great. I'll try the silicone spray
too. Only going to use the 3 bolts I practiced with
today for practice. Got a few more for hunting.
The Morrell target is all foam and I don't think it's
doing it but it could be. Here's a pic of my bolt
puller. Just spin it on and pull it out.
Thanks,

Re: Bolt Problem
Get a "Danny Miller" arrow puller and you will be a happy camper and wont pull your nocks out.Danny's # is 740-483-2312.He does phone and NO internet.Great guy and one of the best tools around.
Re: Bolt Problem
That tool will soon pull out your nocks. Use a piece of clean rubber tubing in your hand ,wrap around shaft and pull out arrow. Or order one of Danny's pullers, they work awesome.

Re: Bolt Problem
Make yourself a rag bag target and no issues with arrow removal.
Two finger pull removal every time.

Re: Bolt Problem
a rag bag is no good with broadheads! at least not for very long
18-1 rhineheart is great. The are pricey but ive had mine a for a couple of years now and the arrows still only go a couple of inches. And I shoot the snot out of it with feild tips and broadheads. Sometimes theres a couple of guys here on a saturday shooting and drinking brew and that target is STILL alive. 18-1+excalibur=

Re: Bolt Problem
I built a sand pit for broadhead practice and local varmints add in the mix as well.

Re: Bolt Problem
Well, looks like I'll be ordering a Rhineheart 18-1.
I can use the Morrell for vertical bow practice so I'm
not out any $.. I'll have to wait a week or so for my
yearly bonus to hit the bank before I can order. My
stash of mad money's pretty much depleted right now
But it's just a couple weeks. I'll live. Got Strep Throat
right now anyway and shouldn't be doing do much outside
in the sun due to the antibiotic we're on (wife has it too).
And, I need some practice with my vertical bow. It's an
old Hoyt ProForce Extreme. I'd like to try a Recurve or
Long Bow. Been thinking about getting one or the other
for awhile and try some instinctive shooting.
Appreciate everyone's input.
