Opening day

Post by Deerstalker »

Opening day & 1st time bow hunting. In the tree stand at O dark thirty and ready to go. 1st light and out pops a nice doe. I line up the shot and am ready to pull the trigger when out pops 2 fawns! Doe's lucky day as I can't shoot a doe with fawns. It was a very good day of hunting although I did not shoot anything. There is always tomorrow and maybe that big old buck will walk by. :) :)

I'm the same way. Can't shoot a doe with suckling fawns. If they have lost their spots and I watch them for several minutes with no suckling, watch out. :)

I can't shoot'em like that either.

I watched 2 of last years fawns and their mom this morning. The young ones were having a big time chasing each other and acting a fool while the old doe was watching and nibbling on acorns. :)

Beautiful morning too.

I know the feeling, this time of year I usually watch and wait a while when looking at does to see if anything else comes out.

I'm the same way, I have too much heart when it comes to that! You still had a great day in the woods and you have all season still to come!

That's what I was thinking! Milk-fed veal, man! What's wrong with you???

I had a momma and 2 little ones with spots come in on me yesterday morning. All 3 of them bedded down within 25 yds of the stand for about an hour.
