Good start to the season

Post by deathbybolt »

Not sure where to start. Things have been busy since my last post back in Nov.
Haven't had much time to get out in the woods but the few hours I have been able to get out paid off.
The first evening out was slow had one button buck come in to range. He hung out for about 45 minutes and wondered out about the time it was too dark to see anything.
My second chance out was Last Friday. I was able to get out of work early so I took advantage of it. Got out to my treestand about 4 pm, at 4:30 it start raining and blowing which I was not dressed for. I stuck it out and around 6:30 pm the rain and wind stop. Things were feeling good.
At 6:45 I am scanning the woods I see body coming towards me. The closer it came in the bigger it got. Finally it steps out out the brush and "BINGO" I see antlers. The buck kept coming straight in and things kept getting bigger. He moved in at about 27 yards still facing towards me, finally he started turning broadside. I put the crosshairs of "The Beast" on him squeezed the trigger and the Rage tipped Lumibolt disappeared for a second (which was a pass through). The buck turned and took off running towards the tall grass marsh. I lost sight of him then I heard some crashing and out of the thicket next to the marsh he appears, he went another 10 yds and tipped over. In all he went about 35 yds. Looked and it is 6:50 pm
That 5 minutes seemed like hours.
This is what I walked up on.

Here he is again. 7 point 15" outside, dressed out at 165 pounds.

Good Luck to all this Season.
