Making and testing a good arrow
Making and testing a good arrow
I don,t have any special testing tools. shooting is my best test! I use superslams because I get the most consistency from them per dozen. I weigh and square all shafts , incerts, nocks then fletch and spin test and try to keep the weight within 1 gr of each other with tips.I do it one arrow at a time shooting at 50yds because if anythings not good it will show up better at that range.I shoot a three shot group using each vane as the cock for three shots and measure the groups to see what vane as the cock vane shot the best. if not pleased I will mark in-between two vanes and refletch again and repeat.if that fails I will turn the shaft around and fletch from the other end. if that fails I trash it! it takes some time but you can get some fine shooing arrows that shoot amazing groups with fieldpoints and broadheads!

Wish I had that much time on my hands. Until I retire, I will have to stick with my Gold Tips. I do square and fletch all my own stuff.

Re: Making and testing a good arrow
One of the guys on AT (randyxx75) built a home made spine tester. I would like to build something like this to get my arrows grouping better, but for now I'm going the long route as you do Masboy. It's a long process and I too wish I had more time.

WOW Some of don't even have time to shoot ours anymore. Maybe on retirement. Wife has me on a retirement plan. It is called "Freedom 95"
