Open sight options?

Post by Txhunter »

Trying to get a physically impared friend to go bowhting in Colorado with us next fall as he would be able to use a crossbow. However, he would have to use open sights. There is an expensive one out there (Tagged out sight), Excalibur makes an inexpensive one ($30) and Derek makes one. Opinions on what works the best without breaking the bank?

What bow they going on? I only have experience w/ the factory sight, it works fine, sighted for 25 yds. That puts me 'on' at 20 and 30 for a lunger on deer. 200# xbow.

Dereck's offering has a lot of happy campers on here.......

The 3rd one is/was too expensive for my taste.......

Good luck!!

I'm not sure but you might be able to use a "non-magnifying" scope,ie.1x or red dot. I dont know for sure in Colorado but some states let that pass. just a thought.

I have a Phoenix Lite 175 lb xbow. And unfortunately they do not allow any kind of scope or any electronics (nothing with a battery). Derek doesn't make his any more, so I think I may try the Excalibur model.

I was looking at fiber optics made by Bad River Outdoors. They make them for the Excalibur .Pricy, but I think the sight has 3 fiber optics.

I will post my newest front sight I adapted tomorrow
I am no longer modifying them as the drill bits break too easily and some sights just won't let the drill bore thru
