Returning to Excals

Post by vaXbow »

I have an interesting path into crossbows and Excals. A couple of years ago I geeked up my shoulder and elected to shoot a crossbow versus surgery. No biggie considering Va is all in with crossbows. My first crossbow was a SZ 350. Considering me and old Mr Murphy get along just fine, I was one of the few that had limb issues on a 350. It was week prior to season and Wyvern didn't have any limbs. I hit the panic button and sent it back and had him send me a Vortex. To me the 175's were more comfy because of length but still went with the Vortex. I am a hard headed Pollock :)
I really missed that 350 and ended up ordering one in black. Someone was looking for a Vortex and I sold them mine. Added a TP Turbo because I like having two bows to shoot and having an option if something happens. Before you nail me on the Excals not needing a back up....I get it  .
Fast forward to me booking an out of state hunt this year and a possible remote Canadian bear hunt in 2014. I decided I better re-add an Excal to a hook in the man cave just for that remote hunt in 2014. Again, I know so don't say it! I really wanted an aluminum rail Ibex but those babies are like finding Elvis. Though nothing wrong with SMF version, I just like the Aluminum better.
With that, I found a very lightly used Phoenix on AT and got it for a pretty good price. It's due in today or tomorrow. My wife would kill me if she knew how many bows I have bought and sold since the 90's!!!! I considered waiting on a Matrix but I think I will let that play out a bit.
The Pheonix is not even here and I bought a flemish string, an S5 system, and placed an order with Boo. Last thing to buy is a cheek pad to fit on it. Glad to be back!

I have an Alum rail Ibex and would not part with it at this point.
