Crossbow Sighting Level

Post by Raymond »

I am thinking of purchasing a crossbow scope level kit, Excalibur Crossbow Scope Level kit is $19.99, and Wheeler Scope Level Kit is $15.76. Which one would you buy?
Thanks,
Raymond

In my opinion you would not need a CB level kit unless you had a shop where you would use the device all of the time setting up customer's CBs. If you want to level your CB so that the scope reticles are perpendicular to the CB you can use any level to do this. I put the level on the rail and adjusted the CB for a level rail by adding paper sheets to one side of the CB as needed with the CB setting on a table. With the rail perfectly level I then used the level on top of the top scope turret to level the scope and tightened the scope rings. You can also check the vertical reticles by looking at a rope at 20 yards that has been hung with some weight BUT you again have to make sure that the CB is level. Hope this helps.

I believe you may be looking at apples & oranges.

Excalibur used to offer a level that mounted to the dovetail on the riser to assure you were holding the limbs level when shooting.

I think the other level kit is for getting the scope crosshair level when mounting a scope.

Where did you add the paper under the limbs?

This is what I use for a sighting level on my Exocet:

This anti-cant device works great for me. Mounted on the scope is is small and easy to see before the shot. Having the limbs level is import for long range accuracy.

Bob, have you got a photo with those mounted on your crossbow? Since I was sick my memory and my mind doesn't work so well anymore. I thought a Wheeler Scope Level Kit would be something simple and easy for me to make sure that my scope is level. I do not need anymore weight added to it because my back is really bad and I have a hard time just to shoot it as it is.
Thanks,

I used my Wheeler Scope Level Kit which I had on hand for my firearms. Used a little double sided tape and centered my Leupold scope on my Equinox.

Andrew, can you explain the process to me. My mind and memory doesn't work right at times since I was sick. I probably knew this procedure but for the life of me I cannot remember it.

Raymond,

Well the level with the magnetic base I use scotch brand double sided tape to attach it to the crossbow rail and the other level I put on the top scope cap and adjust the rings to make everything level.
