Inexpensive Serving Jig

Post by yooper_man »

I had an idea for an inexpensive serving jig. I used some heavy duty shelving brackets, one 48" - 2x4, 1/4x20 hardware(two - 4" hooks, four - 2 1/2" bolts, eight - nuts and eight - washers), all for under $14.00. I wanted a jig I could work over and not be obstructed. It is small and portable or can be bolted/clamped to a bench.

I have two Excalibur Flemish Dyna-Flight Strings. One used last year's season with a separating serving. I installed the new one on my Equinox too stretch out. I have been using Excalibur Serving Wax, but needs some working in since its so hard.

I bought a AAE Pro String Server and Brownell Crossbow String Center Serving .036 Black

Nice little jig there. It'll do the trick for sure. :)

Nicely done. Thanks for sharing. Something I might do in the future as making my own strings appeals to the DIY'er within me.

Cheers!

Hey thanks everyone. I just thought that shelving brackets are designed to hold hundreds of pounds, so why not pull the string.

I was about to build one. I am going to get some shelving brackets from Home Depot first now.

Thanks.....

OK last evening I received the items I bought, AAE Pro String Server and Brownell Crossbow String Center Serving .036 Black.

OK using YouTube videos I did my first reserving job using my new jig. Even the back serving wasn't hard to learn. I used Excalibur serving wax and a piece of old t-shirt to heat it up after I was done. Shooting will tell if its tight enough for my Equinox claw.

Nice work. Good looking jig. You have inspired me to try making one and finally redoing my servings myself.
