Multi plex scope or HHA Optimizer single sight
I was just wondering which would be the best set up. I am relatively new to crossbows and never owned the HHA sight. Since I recently acquired two excals I was thinking maybe one of each if the optimizer isn't hard to set up.

Wid yer light pounder i would either put a varizone on it/them or a heavy duplex & sight it in fer 25 yds. Wid me 4 i have 2 duplex scopes & 2 varizones. None of my girls shoot past 35 yds anyway

Re: Multi plex scope or HHA Optimizer single sight
As I understand the HHA Optimizer you sight in your CB for 20 yards. Then move out to 30 yards and move the HHA Optimizer wheel until the X hairs are dead center for 30 yards. You then select a sticky tape provided with the HHA that matches your CB performance and place this tape around the HHA wheel. I believe that this tape/wheel, (the tapes are graduated for different CB speeds), now has marks for 20/30/40/50/etc yards and you always use the X hairs after you set the wheel for the shooting distance desired. I believe that as the distance increases to the target, moving the HHA wheel raises the rear of the scope to compensate for the change in distance so that the X hairs are dead on. Please comment if I have this all wrong.
Should be start at 20 yards and then at 60 yards to get the HHA set up for your CB.

Re: Multi plex scope or HHA Optimizer single sight
I've been wresting with this very issue myself for the Matrix 380.
On one hand I like the idea of a single cross-hair and reasonably quick adjustments to compensate for shots between 20 and 80 yards (my Buddies and I do a LOT of longer range target shooting). Also like the idea of a larger objective lens (light gathering capabilities).
On the other hand I am hesitant to add any extra weight to the rather light Matrix, and am concerned with fumbling with the range settings while hunting (all while the range changes while doing so). And I tend to like simplicity.
For now I have decided to try out the new Hawke XB30 that will be coming out in early July. Bit of a wait, but lots of time to switch to another system before hunting season if that's what I decide. The reticule in this scope offers sights from 20 through 100 yards. Perfect for both the range work we do, and of course well more than adequate for hunting purposes.
Good Luck with your decision! I'll be interested to see which route you go, and of course offer my own perspective once I've had the opportunity to run that new Hawke through it's paces...
Cheers,
Nog

You shoot in at 20 Yards and then move back to 60 yards and shoot it in by turning the dial, when you have it set you look at the dial and see what number the pin is on and that is the chart you use for you bow..
Then it will be shot in from 20-80 yards
Then it will be shot in from 20-80 yards

I'd say if you're mostly hunting go with the multiplex.
The HHA is great for 3D tournaments. If I didn't shoot 3D I wouldn't bother with the HHA Optimizer.

What is the max distance for it? My xb30 only gives marks out to 60yds. I would like to go out to 80 or 100.

The tapes that come with the Optimizer is from 20-80 yards but there is room after the 80 yd. mark for you to mark your own and may get out to 120 yards on it..

Re: Multi plex scope or HHA Optimizer single sight
Used it with the Varizone last year, now with the Redfield revolution 2-7. The power of the scope doesn't matter for the Optimizer.Excal1 wrote:What power scopes are you guys and gals using on it?
The different tapes you set it up with are for the speed or your arrow - so you want everything else ready for how you want to shoot (the arrows & string you want to shoot with) - changes to the speed would possibly mean you'd have to sight in with a different speed tape on the Opti.
