Think I got it figured

Post by Dayelight »

Thanks guys for the answers you provided me with on my previous post. I know answering the same questions day in and out gets kinda old. I look to you more experienced bow hunters for advice when I need it and you always seem to pull through, with a little sarcasm to boot.

So for BH selection I am going with fixed blade, looking at; PICK ONE!!
Shuttle T Lock
G5 Striker or Striker Magnum
G5 Montec
Almost have my mind set on NAP Thunderhead Razor or just Thunderhead.
I love NAP products. Good quality at a good price.

I know that I'm going to use the NAP quick fletch vanes/wrap (specifically the quickspin ones).
Anyone have any experience using them or heard about them?
http://www.amazon.com/New-Archery-Produ ... ick+fletch

Still don't know which bolts, inserts, or nocks to use.
First one to answer with a nice heavy bolt is gonna decide my fate.

So to summarize. Pick a BH from the list above or tell me your favorite fixed blade. Tell me if you've used the NAP wraps. Finally, tell me a bare bone bolt that's heavy along with insert and nock.

Thank you kindly,

1st, you get an Excal, anyone. Then, you pick an arrow. 3rd you try bheads in a target at your hunting ranges, find one that does what you need. Don't be surprised if the bhead doesn't hit where you field points do. You just need to keep lookin a bit more.

Then, you got it figured out. I 'figured it out' real quick w/ GT L II's and 100gr Slick Trick Mags, ymmv.

There's all kinds of good combinations available. Have fun!

Can of worms here! Pick yer arrows, how heavy do you want them? Most of yer regular carbon arrows will be from 380 to 460gr, that includes vanes rear nock & front insert. Fixed BH's SlickTrick standard & mag & RazorTrick & couple more they make. Magnus stingers, G5 Montec's & Strikers & mag. Nap has a couple.

The striker mag 1 1/2" you mayhave to index it to clear the stirrup. I knowed you didn't put Mech. on yer list but NAP makes 2 great ones, Spitfire & the Shockwave!

I will leave your other questions for other members , but I tell you that before I got my jig I did use the NAP Quick Fletch with 2in. Blazers, and they are very easy to install and they worked well, just dip them slowly as to prevent air bubbles in the wrap.

I went with Black Eagle Executioner arrows with 100gr Slick Trick Mags. Waiting for the Nufletch lighted flat nocks to come out to try them out as well. Only 25 days until season opens here in Nebraska so the new lighted nocks are probably going to have to wait until late season.

The loadout- 6 BEE with 100 grain inserts and I'm thinking slick trick mags (405 grains total) as of 10:19 am on Aug 21st. Im sure Ill change BH choice here in a bit.

I use 18" Diablo's tipped with 125gr G5 Striker and shoots perfect out to 50 yards, no difference to my 125 field tips. I havn't shot past 50 yards yet.
