Best target ever

Post by Masboy »

I finally got enough carpet to fill my press 2/3 full of used burber carpet that we removed from our dinning ,living room :D an sure is some tough stuff . wife was trying to clean it with a rug doctor an not doing so well so I said let's take it up I like the hardwood floor better anyway an she agreed  so I got to work today an after 10hr an a 5gal bucket of sweat here it is. first 3 shots today from my vixen at 30yds with 16 inch arrows an I put a 16 inch arrow in beside one I shot an you can see I got about 6 inches of penetration an works great an not bad to pull out with my hand. . I have 2 2x12 on top an bottom so I can crank it down tight but don,t have it real tight now . it,s 12 inches thick an very heavy. I can crank it tighter an nothing will go thru this thing.the arrows always seem to go in between the carpet pieces an stops them great an nice clean arrows.

That's mighty nice. Can't imagine how long it took you to put that all together. Sure turned out nice though. Have you shot a BH into it yet or is that out of the question?

No broadheads ! i think they would be a pain to get out . best broad head target I ever shot was straw bales compressed in a press . I hate any kind of foam targets that get foam on your arrows an deer 3d targets that are a pain to pull an arrow from. rag bags work great for me but get tired of replacing bags an stuffing them. I like the carpet because I can just loosen it a little an replace pieces of carpet as needed . an control penetration by how tight I make it.

Yeah I bet BHs would be nasty to try and pull out. Mechanical probably wouldn't be so bad but I think you'd have to take it apart to get a fixed blade out.

I have a small press one about 18x18 inches I am thinking about filling it with carpet for broadheads an when I tighten down in the press I will have chain links that are attached to all four corners an a chain binder on each side I will hook in the links an tighten then back off the top press nuts then after shooting broadheads I just raise the binder on each side an the pressures off an remove my broadheads an push the binders down an ready again. well something like that. I just want a good broadhead target that will stop anything an I can repair easy an remove my arrows from easy. My new project

It was well used an from al the kids an dogs an cleaned one of the two rooms with the rug doctor so half is clean  don,t think it will damage my arrows but if it does I have plenty . I just made a portable one yesterday 18x18 inch an will be shooting some broadheads in it an see how that works. I been shooting in some carpet for a while an love it. best target I ever shot an very tough an durable.
